Brand Stories: Milton Keynes brand photography with Becky Wood Creative

Today we’re meeting London and Hertfordshire Branding Designer and Photographer, Becky Wood; I have worked with Becky a couple of times now and I am very excited to be sharing my work with her on the blog. Becky is an absolute ray of sunshine and an absolute joy to work with - we always end up laughing and spending time together is like hanging out with an old friend.

For her shoots, Becky and I wanted to be creative and try out some new locations in Milton Keynes for our brand photoshoot. I love how every time I work with her she is so full of energy and wisdom.

So without further ado, here she is!

What inspired you to start your own creative business?

I needed a change. I was a bit stagnant in my agency job and I was looking to really flex my creative muscles. I was also super burnt out in the pandemic so I decided to stop being employed and start on a big adventure of my own.

What makes your business unique?

I care about the success of my clients and I am there to help them push the boundaries and achieve their goals. *In a Liam Neeson voice* I have a very special set of skills… Hahah I’m not that cool, but I am super creative and I like to create and support brands with really exciting visuals and I want to empower business owners to really reach for the stars. Branding and connection with their customers is where it all starts really.

You clearly have a great eye for design. Where do you get your inspiration from?

Inspiration is everywhere! I read books, go to the theatre, travel the world and look at everything that’s going on around me. Since I started doing photography (as well as the design) I have really started seeing the world differently and almost feel like I was previously going around with my eyes closed! By becoming a photographer I became a better designer and now I am even more nuts about branding!

What’s your favourite thing about running your own creative business?

The freedom. I can go to a Wednesday matinee performance or have a 10am swim, which really boosts creativity and productivity. It means when I am looking after myself I am fulfilled as a person which makes me 1000% better when working for my clients. I also love being able to choose who I work with. I LOVE passionate small business owners. I love their stories and their excitement and their ambition. And it’s those small business owners that get me jumping out of bed in the morning excited to boost their business with cool creative work!

What has been your biggest challenge since setting up the business?

The number of hats you have to wear. I have had to upskill in accountancy, marketing, HR, sales, client relations, customer service and all of those things you never really think about when you are fully employed. I have revelled in the challenge though.

There is never a boring moment!!
